Inverie on Knoydart for three Corbetts.

In earlier times we had reached Knoydart to visit the higher summits by walking in on the fine path alongside Loch Hourn from Kinloch Hourn to make a camp at Barrisdale.   Arriving by boat to Inverie seemed to be the best way to reach the smaller summits. Mallaig old harbour....a little further along the boat to reach Inverie can be boarded Further up the quayside folks waiting for the Inverie ferry.  Our first look along from the ferry landing place.  Grand views out across Inverie bay and the early part of Loch Nevis. Gaining height on Sgurr Coire Coinnichean Choinnichean Choinnichean Marif resting after the descent from Choinnichean. Walkers heading towards the glen leading to Mam Meadail….the Monument  to a former estate owner on top of the knoll. The private Bothy at the early stages of Gleann Meadail. Sgurr na Ciche and Garbh Chioch Mhor from close to Mam Meadail Summit area of Beinn Bhuidhe Loch Bhraomisa

A visit to the Corbetts in the Fionn Loch / Fisherfield area.

We travelled up to Poolewe at the end of April with the promise forecasted for very fine sunny  weather.  The forecast was very accurate when we parked up the motor near the wee shop and immediately settled for summer mode of dress for the walk in with rucksacks filled with camping kit and all the rest. I had been into the area by this approach nearly forty years prior, reached the buildings at Kernsary, and we were asked not to go in any further with there being a stag shoot about to take place...it was early August! I had also been into the area a few times from both the Shenavall bothy and from the Kinlochewe end with a walk over Slioch.  This time we were focussed on the three Corbetts situated on both sides of Fionn Loch. The walking route out from Poolewe and return. Our Rucksacks with camping kit were left at a path junction for collection later. On the approach to the top area of Beinn Airigh Charr the view over the many islands in Loch Maree was of

Coire Garbhlach and Mullach Clach a' Bhlair Glen Feshie.

The walk is accessed from the end of the driveable road on the East side of Glen Feshie. Looking into Coire Garbhlach from the west side of the Glen. Shows some of the interlocking spurs.  The interlocking spurs seen from the West side of the river. I headed out diagonally  from Achlean towards the entrance to the Coire….the path tends to 'come and go'. The twenty meter waterfall with a feint path on the left side of the fall. The Moine Mhor 'the great moss' can be reached from this area of the upper Coire. The vast upper Coire seen after, on easier slopes, approaching the Moss. From the summit of Mullach Clach a'Bhlair the unmistakable summit of Cairn Toul in the distance. Descending from Mullach down Druim nan Bo Lochan nan Bo is reached. Looking down Glen Feshie from the cairn at the spot height .770 The fine wee stone and turf bridge crossing a burn...the Allt Coire nam Bo.... on the way down to Ru
