A few images of the fine hills that we have visited in the North West of Sutherland. To enable us to reach the hills we have stayed at the wee campsite overlooking the sea at Scourie a couple of times and at another camp close to Tongue.
The far North West.
From Ben Hee accessed from the road above loch Merkland we look out towards the triple summits of Quinag.
|
Although the smallest of the hills visited in the area Ben Stack tends to dominate the views from the others. |

Ben Hee summit with Ben Hope to the rear.
Descending from Ben Hee.
From Loch More
The old graveyard beside Loch More.
Ben Arkle and Fionaven from the top of the multiple named Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhugaill.
The Arkle, Meall Horn and Foinaven group of hills were visited in a long ago lifetime when a camera wasn't carried into the hills.
Ben Stack from MLCMD.
After all of the sightings of Ben Stack a visit to the hill had to be made.
The recognised summit complete with Trig Point.
However a bit further out this might challenge for the summit status.
Dark weather over Quinag and about to break on us as we descended from Ben Stack.
Starting out on Beinn Spionnaidh from Rigotter.
Durness and Fharaid Head.
Ganu Mor and Ceann Garbh of the Foinaven range.
Ben Hope and Ben Loyal.
The boulder Field descent from Cranstackie with Marif and another walker in the image.
Next was a day of three summits. On the path up to Ben Leoid followed by the two smaller summits of Meallan a'Chuail and Meall an Fheur Loch.
Summit of Leoid....again Ben Stack in the image.
A look down to Lochain Meallan a'Chuail from the summit.
Loch Cuil a' Mhuil with Arkle and Foinaven in the distance.
Near the summit of Meall an Fheur Loch....I think? a white Loiseleuria perhaps.
Meall an Fheur Loch.
Reconnected with the fine stalkers path that gets us back down to the road.
Ben Loyal from a short distance from Tongue.
The outlook from the top of Ben Loyal with more rain approaching.
